If you want Word to construct a brand new Normal template using all of Word's default settings, all you have to do is Quit Word, then delete or rename your current Normal template. With regard to the referenced thread, interestingly, when I changed display resolution from 'Default for Display' to 'Scaled | Larger Text', all Word documents open in full 'Print Layout' document window. The issue only applies to Word documents. Excel and Powerpoint files open in full-sized application windows.
